GALE Pacific Partners with AILA to Advance Safer, Sun-Smart Open Spaces

GALE Pacific® is pleased to announce a new national corporate partnership with the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects (AILA). 

AILA is the peak professional body for landscape architecture in Australia, representing members and working closely with local and state government to shape public spaces that support healthier, more liveable communities. 

A Shared Commitment to Safer Outdoor Environments

GALE Pacific, AILA, and local councils share a common goal: making open spaces safer and more comfortable for everyone. 

Playgrounds, parks, and public outdoor areas without adequate shade can expose communities to harmful UV radiation and extreme surface temperatures during Australia’s warmer months. These risks can limit how and when people use shared spaces. 

By increasing the specification of structured shade in open space design, this partnership supports a dual benefit: protecting people from the sun while encouraging outdoor play, social connection, and community wellbeing.
